Jeffry Sterba, president and CEO of American Water Works Company, NAWC’s largest member, spoke to the U.S. House of Representatives’ Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment during a hearing entitled “A Review of Innovative Financing Approaches for Community Water Infrastructure Projects.”

11/17/2011 - National Association of Water Companies Praises Repeal of Withholding Tax

On Thursday, November 16, the U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed H.R. 674 – bipartisan legislation. This marked the final stage in the legislative process to fully repeal the three percent Withholding Tax mandate enacted in Section 511 of the Tax Increase Prevention and Reconciliation Act of 2005. The repeal will now be sent to the President for his signature.

10/04/2011 - National Association of Water Companies Announces 2011–2012 Board of Directors and New President

The National Association of Water Companies (NAWC) announced today that Lisa Sparrow, President & CEO, Utilities, Inc., has been named president of the NAWC Board of Directors. Sparrow, who joined Utilities, Inc. in April 2002, assumes the NAWC Board presidency from Eric W. Thornburg, Chairman, President and CEO of the Connecticut Water Company.

The 2011 NAWC Water Summit hosted local leaders from San Diego and Los Angeles to discuss the benefits of public-private partnerships in the water industry. The panel, titled “Water is Your Business: Local Leaders on Building Partnerships,” was part of the Water is Your Business initiative.

On October 4, the 2011 NAWC Water Summit will host local leaders from San Diego and Los Angeles to discuss the benefits of public-private partnerships in the water industry. Panelists will describe how they set objectives and expectations for water infrastructure and reliable service in the face of supply challenges.


09/16/2011 - National Association of Water Companies Responds to President Obama’s Infrastructure Bank Proposal
President Barack Obama delivered a jobs speech to a joint session of Congress to urge congressional leaders to pass the American Jobs Act, a bill that would create an American Infrastructure Financing Authority – or “infrastructure bank” – to facilitate infrastructure projects nationwide. The NAWC stresses the need for incentives to move water forward.
