Who We Serve

The term "water companies" conjures different images for different people. Some may think of grocery shelves lined with bottled water, or the water cooler in a corner of an office. But the companies that provide those products are not members of the NAWC. Our members know that only tap water truly delivers sustainable value to consumers.

Our members include privately owned and publicly traded drinking water utilities and wastewater services companies, as well as professional water contracting companies that do specialized work in partnership with these companies. They are all operating in the United States, which means they not only answer to their customers and employees, but to government officials and regulators as well. We are proud to support the needs of even the smallest of water systems. In fact, that's how we got our start back in 1895, when a handful of small water companies came together to form our association. Our members provide a vital public service that helps to safeguard the health and safety of American families, our environment, and the economic prosperity of communities. For this reason, we work collaboratively with any elected official, company or non-profit group that also cares about quality water.

We welcome any water company that wishes to help keep moving water forward to email Mike Horner regarding active membership at, or to request an application for associate membership, click here. For a full list of current associate members, click here.
