The pipes, treatment plants and other infrastructure our members maintain as part of their work providing high-quality water and wastewater services represent only one way they make a difference for the communities they serve. Private water companies also do a lot to protect the environment. Making sure the natural habitats around lakes, aquifers, rivers and streams stay vital is important for community beautification and development, but it's also an innovative method for protecting water quality and supply.
When The Nature Conservancy recently asked people to stop and tell them where their water came from before it arrived to their tap, almost all said that they did not know. Do you know where your water comes from?
