We maintain an aggressive government relations program to make sure that the concerns of the private water service industry and its customers are given proper attention by Congress, the administration and key decision makers throughout the country. Our federal government relations program is overseen by the NAWC Board of Directors as well as the Government Relations Committee. State government relations programs are overseen by their respective NAWC Chapters.
Each Spring, water industry leaders from the private sector converge on Capitol Hill to discuss key issues with members of Congress and their staff. We call it our Annual Report to Congress and it provides executives from our member companies, as well as managers of water systems, the unique opportunity to personally encourage their elected officials to take action. It is the perfect time to build support on the critical issues that will benefit the communities and customers served by NAWC members across the country.
During their visits on the Hill, NAWC members discuss the broad spectrum of solutions they currently provide to their local communities, and build support for new and innovative policy changes. Congress has the power to make more private sector solutions viable in cities across the country, and to make private capital more available to invest in water infrastructure.
