Our Program
We maintain an aggressive government relations program to make sure that the concerns of the private water service industry and its customers are given proper attention from Congress, the administration and key decision makers throughout the country. Our government relations program is overseen by the NAWC Board of Directors as well as the Government Relations Committee. State government relations programs are overseen by their respective NAWC Chapters.
Every spring, water industry leaders from the private sector converge on Capitol Hill to discuss key issues with members of Congress and their staff. We call it our Annual Report to Congressional Leaders and it provides executives of our member companies as well as managers of water systems the unique opportunity to personally encourage their elected officials to take action. It is the perfect time to encourage support of public policies on environmental, finance and tax issues that will benefit the communities and customers that their companies, as well as other NAWC members, serve across the country.
During their visits on the Hill, NAWC members discuss the broad spectrum of solutions they currently provide to their local communities, and encourage new and innovative policy changes. Congress has the power to make more private sector solutions viable in cities across the country, and to make private capital more available for water infrastructure.
