NAWC Annual Fly-In
March 9 – 11, 2009

Each spring NAWC members gather in our Nation’s Capitol to address issues critical to the water industry at the NAWC Annual Congressional Fly-In. This event is an opportunity for representatives of the investor-owned water and wastewater industry from across the country to come to Washington to meet with elected officials. NAWC members bring critical issues associated with water and wastewater provision to the attention of Congress as well as provide valuable insight and expertise on issues of interest to elected officials.

During the 2008 Fly-In, NAWC members acted as “first-responders” to a high-profile Associated Press story regarding the detection of pharmaceuticals in the nation’s drinking water. Congress was fortunate to have experienced utility professionals at their service to answer pressing questions on this issue.

The central focus of the 2008 Fly-In was the broad water infrastructure financing issue, with a particular focus on supporting the State Revolving Fund (SRF) model, expanding the availability of private activity bonds for water projects and expanding the eligibility of clean water SRF to private utilities.
